Comment on $100M for Vick? SICK! by Charles E Smith Jr

Vick is a bit of a conundrum - He has the arm-strength & is a pretty accurate thrower, but he still hasn't (and probably never will) developed the instincts of a true QB. This move reminds me of the Vikes in the late 90's when they opted to put their title hopes on the shoulders of Randall Cunningham. Vick has never been good in back2back seasons. As far as running goes, keep him in the pocket, and if he has to scramble, make sure to force him to his right, because he doesn't have the nimble footwork to quickly get his body in position to throw against the grain, thus taking away the threat of a pass & making him one-dimensional. Vick, backed up by Vince Young could be a recipe for disaster. This is one of the best wait and sees in quite a while.

Thomas led the NHL with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage as he bounced back from a hip injury that cost him his starting job last year. So if we want to focus on that last goal which I think a lot of other players could have done a better job I think its focusing on the wrong thing.

I am from Germany and we can be very happy with Dirk Nowotzki. A German born is really a superstar inside the top basketball league on the planet. We're delighted how the Us citizens celebrate "all of our" Dirk. This might be significantly less well known in the states.

When I heard of the suspension of Rome, my initial reaction was that it was a 'make up call', for the whole "Inconclusive evidence" ruling regarding Alex Burrows - I still think that.
I have played Ice Hockey since 1975, and what you say is true about keeping one's head up. That was taught from the time I was a kid. Hence the phrase, "Heads Up" !
I wonder what Scott Stevens would have to say about it ?

Someone should ask Mike Murphy the real question now. Since he claims that Aaron Rome's suspension is a direct reflection of the severity of the injury sustained. Why is Boychuck not getting anything for a can opener 5 feet from the boards that results in a fractured vertebrae. Rome hit a moron admiring his pass as he crossed the blue line. Anyone that has played hockey knows not to do this either from experience or from getting their bell rung. It was a late hit, but a clean hit. First point of contact is the shoulder to the chest. So by Mike Murphy's own words, Boychuck should be gone until December of next year. Will he do this, of course not!
I wonder what would happen if we were all this incompetent in our jobs? Oh yeah we wouldn't have one!

I want to make sure that the players should understand that it’s not all on the one guy hitting, but also they have to take that responsibility. And what I’m saying is that there’s no rules that you could put in place that’s going to enforce that. I’m saying [that’s] the responsibility of the player that’s getting hit. Be smart enough NOT TO GO THROUGH THE NEUTRAL ZONE WITH YOUR HEAD DOWN. Be smart enough not to turn your back on a player you know is coming to hit you at the last second. And once you cut those off, you’re going to cut down on a lot of those injuries. Not all of them, but if you want to minimize them, that’s the way of starting. That’s what I’m saying.
-Claude Julien after Pailles suspension for blindside hit.

Bit ironic in this case, isn't it? Since one of his forwards got rocked SKATING THROUGH THE NEUTRAL ZONE WITH HIS HEAD DOWN.

Anyway, where do the Lakers go from here? TOOOO BAAAD!
